Through a different lens

Looking at things differently is not only good for you, it's essential. Challenging ourselves to see things from a different point of view and become more elastic with how we view things can bring about greater understanding, and hence, greater knowledge.

Here, J.David Miller shows us new ways to explore art, while Giorgio Magini's artwork reconstructs Florence. A four-month long mixology festival is another sure way to shake things up and a packed calendar of events is waiting for you to get out during these colder months and try something new.

With Valentine's day just around the corner, we have just the place to celebrate amore. The Florentine also have tickets to an unmissable comedy gig in English, have a read below for info.

Jane Farrell, deputy editor

Psychoanalysis and the arts
By J.David Miller
Living in Florence, an incredible wealth of great art is at one's fingertips, but have you ever wondered why some artworks touch us deeply while others, perhaps equally renowned, do not move us at all?
