Many of us move to Florence in search of meaning. We find it in art (making or viewing), architecture, or perhaps religion. Often, it is found in simple gestures as we start to integrate and feel a sense of belonging.
One of my resolutions for 2020 is to pledge some of my time to charity work. I remember the friendly face of the hospital volunteer who shared a laugh with me on the ward at Ponte a Niccheri, my tennis buddy's smile as she organized a raffle for children in Namibia, and the meaningful feeling of solidarity at the various Christmas markets that take place all over the city. So, this week's newsletter focuses on charities and giving back to Florence as we celebrate the holiday season.
